A corrugated metal culvert does not work by steel thickness alone. The pipe and the soil around it share the load. This is why bedding, side filling, layer thickness, compaction, and bolt checking all matter during installation. If the backfill is weak on one side, the pipe can move or lose its designed shape even when the steel plate itself is correct. Water flow during construction also needs control, because muddy bedding can make later settlement harder to judge.
The advantage of this culvert type is fast assembly. Plates or sections can be transported to the site and bolted in place, which is useful for road rebuilding, drainage work, and projects where wet concrete work is not convenient. Before ordering, span, cover depth, water flow, soil condition, traffic load, and corrosion level should be checked together. That gives the producer a better base for plate thickness and surface coating. After installation, the first inspection should look at bolts, shape, and end protection.
