Precautions for steel corrugated culverts during construction, acceptance and maintenance are as follows:
Construction precautions
Pre-construction preparation: Ensure that relevant materials, personnel and equipment enter the site, do a good job of safety protection during construction, and protect the roadbed slope with fences to prevent stones and other objects from sliding down and injuring people.
Foundation treatment: Foundation treatment can be done by backfilling gravel or masonry stone concrete, leveling the base, replacing 30-50cm thick gravel materials, and the density reaches more than 90%, and selecting an appropriate water flow longitudinal slope of about 3%.
Construction method: Adopt the segmented construction method, and use two angle steels side by side as slide rails at the original arch culvert base in advance. The diameter of the corrugated culvert can have different specifications according to the needs of the project. The diameter of the assembled pipe is 0.5m-2.5m, and the length of each section is 3.06 meters; the diameter of the assembled pipe is 3m-8m, and the plates are overlapped and fastened with high-strength bolts.
Backfill work: If the culvert length is less than 30 meters, and the width of the two sides of the steel corrugated pipe culvert is greater than 80cm from the original culvert, the entire corrugated pipe culvert can be pushed to one end downstream or upstream, and the masonry of the retaining wall at one end and the backfill work around it can be carried out after it is in place; if the culvert length is greater than 30 meters, a similar method can be used for segmented advancement and backfilling.
Acceptance considerations
Appearance quality: The inner and outer surfaces of the steel corrugated culvert should be flat, without obvious unevenness. The corrugations of the pipe wall should be regular and neat, and the shape and size of the corrugations should meet the design requirements. The weld should be continuous and uniform, without welding defects such as pores, slag inclusions, and cracks.
Dimensions: The pipe diameter and length should meet the design requirements, and the allowable deviation is generally ±5mm. The wall thickness deviation should be controlled within ±10%. Corrugation parameters such as wave height and wave distance should also meet the design requirements. Material properties: Steel should meet the material requirements specified in the design, such as Q235, Q345, etc. The yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and other mechanical properties of steel should be verified through material quality certification documents or sampling inspection.
Maintenance precautions
Anti-corrosion treatment: The surface of the steel corrugated culvert should be hot-dip galvanized and asphalt should be applied after installation to extend the service life.
Regular inspection: Regularly check the surface condition of the steel corrugated culvert to ensure that there are no defects such as cracks, rust, scratches, etc. Use tools such as magnetic particle flaw detectors for comprehensive inspection.
Mechanical performance evaluation: Regularly conduct mechanical performance tests such as tension, bending, and compression to ensure that the steel corrugated pipe can withstand external forces during use.
